Night Journey to Vicksburg

Jubi grabbed the tin and dashed out the door, almost knocking over May Belle and Anna racing toward him. He swooped Anna up in his arms and ran into the woods away from the sound of the gunshots, May Belle close behind. They crouched behind a line of scrub bushes, listening to the gunshots and distant cries of battle. May Belle's voice was an excited squeak. "They gonna shoot us too?"
